Public Celebration Committee Meeting

August 17, 2026

Room 315 Town Hall

Attending: Debbie Reynolds Erin Benham Brenda Shuler Meg Foggitt Mikyll Germond Roz Gallagher

Jackee MacNamee Liz Landow Cheryl DiGenova

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. Minutes were accepted by Cheryl and Debbie.

9/11 memorial event will be held outside the Town Hall if weather permits, otherwise it will be moved into the council chamber. Our fire dept., police dept., and civil air patrol will be involved. The Boy Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the 10 a.m. event. Mayor Cervoni has agreed to be the MC for the gathering, which should last about 45 to 60 minutes. Coffee is being donated by Choate School. Neil's donut shop will be contacted for a donation of donuts. Patriotic prints by a local artist will be available for sale.

HALLOWEEN: a discussion of the parade from the YMCA was held, with emphasis on more control of the kids, preventing them from entering the street. Roz reported that Johnny Roz is all set, with Mary Ellen Eckles on board for character actors to entertain the parade goers. The sound system seems to be in place. We went over our respective tasks and responsibilities so that all will flow smoothly that night of 10/23ʳᵈ. Roz asked the members to report about 3: 30 that night to start setting up. Our cider order will remain the same as last year, with an increase of cider donuts from Lyman Orchards.

Season's of Celebration: a great deal of time was spent on reviewing our task list compiled by Roz. The event seems to be coming together, but a few items such as the Roaming Railroad and the Petting Zoo require a follow up. We increased our cookie order from Krafty Kakes, while Choate will once again donate 50 gallons of hot cocoa. Johnny Roz has hired a Santa for the day, but we need a Mrs. Santa too. MacDonald's will supply hot cups and lids to the committee. Roz gave us a lead on ordering elves for our name the elf event.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m., with a reminder that our next meeting will be held on 9/21, room 315.

Respectfully submitted by B. Kapi, secretary
